I am happy with nordVPN
I used Nord for a few years, but changed to Proton. It was a huge improvement. Aside from full port forwarding, they maintain a decent Linux frontend instead of making you manually set up and configure an OpenVPN profile for their servers.

All VPNs require adopting certain best practices to get the most out of them. And periodically check up on 3rd party audits.

I've been using Proton for a while (also have their email service), and a relatively new feature is a 'Stealth' mode, which is supposed to prevent sites from seeing if you're using a VPN or not.

However, when I use that mode, streaming sites can always see that I'm using a VPN, so it seems to be a bit buggy.

When I don't use the stealth mode, sites only sometimes detect I'm using a VPN, then I reconnect until they don't detect it.

So not sure what's going on there...

But all in all a good VPN, and like BindOfGod says, Switzerland has very good privacy laws.

Your self hosted VPN.

Mullvad is probably your best option for privacy/anonymity if you're not willing to trust Proton, but it's up to you to do your own research as always. Never assume that since a VPN has never been disclosed to log its users activity, that it will never happen in the future.
ProtonVPN
i want to get around youtube ads and forced logins. Mullvad is letting me bypass the youtube login to verify your not a bot rule. to bypass this all i do is vpn to hong kong (love you) and not Sydney (♥♥♥♥ you Sydney) it wont last but its funny
