Why do men date women with traits they dislike and complain about it?
Obligatory not all men.

Keep seeing this time lapse video of a dude waiting for his gf/wife (not sure) to get ready and every time this is posted, there will be comments from men echoing their gf/wife is like this too.

Ok but pick better then????

I hate Star Wars for example. So, I don’t go and date Star Wars fans.

The waiting thing is just an example. There are other common complaints like too much make up, too much reality TV, not playing video games, nagging, etc. Ok, just don’t date them?

I do not understand.

When people are attracted to each other they see the good points they like. Later on they see the bad points they don't like. They then live under the misguided belief that they can change someone or that the good things outweigh the bad things (which they often don't).

Dumping people is unpleasant.

You can love someone overall and dislike a habit / trait they have at the same time
Sometimes small complaints are a sign there's more wrong than they're admitting. Sometimes very successful couples nevertheless have small complaints that remain despite all the good things.

But I find those relationship videos to be cringe either way, tbh.

If we could truly define how attraction works we would all be in happy relationships.

Just be pickier.

True but must they complain with sexist overtones of “ha ha women, am I rite?”

I always assume that men who do the couple videos online like that have been neutered.

I don’t know about others but I feel less attracted to someone if they exhibit habits that I find annoying.

It is not that men particularly abhor ladies who take time to get ready. Rather it is like a meme, all married men or men in relationship can relate to. Those comments are just some light hearted relatable jokes.

Idk how old you are to not realise this.

People date for other reasons than love more often than not. So not surprising tbh

Why do women date/marry men and then want to change almost everything about them? This is hardly a one way thing. There are not infinite people in existence to find a perfect match, and even if there were none of us have infinite time to check all possible partners to find them.

Perhaps the things that people love about the other person outweighs the negative, hence why they are together. Also different people just have differing opinions so there will always be something one may not like or understand about the other but they would love them for who they are anyway.

I see this happen more often with women. They get with a man thinking they can "change" him, when they fail they complain.

This type gets bashed constantly though. If anything, the bad traits of men get blamed on the women. She should have picked better, right? That’s a common criticism.

Meanwhile, “my wife? She’s annoying! / she won’t let me have any fun”, is a well accepted joke.
"I like crazy women"
