by tomorrow morning, dozens of children will not wake up.
Children who fought against cancer.
Children whose homes stand in dangerous zones.
Children whose parents have long disappeared into addiction and darkness.

Many beautiful, quiet souls with sorrowful eyes
will meet their final night - tonight, as they did yesterday.
Perhaps, in their sleep,
they’ll dream of something they never had:
youth. . and freedom.

May the gods take their angels back.
