Nobody is unhappy about X if the game is good
X could represent many things.

Denuvo.

"Woke" (BG3, kingdome come deliverance 2)

Price tag (GTA series)

Bugs (cyberpunk, witcher 3)

At the end of the day a game only has to be good, or have the potential to become good and no amount of so called toxic gamer culture will make a difference. the good games will speak for themselves, and the ones that are badly made like veilguard and avowed will be quickly discarded by all the people who aren't die hard supporters prepared to go to war and have cope sessions about it.

I somehow completely forgot about nintendo: those guys are grade-A scumbags with the way they treat the consumers. The hardware is weird and underpowered, and the lawyers are arguably the most vicious in the industry. Nintendo gets a pass on all of this though because people just love the ♥♥♥♥ out of their games, which isn't a luxury afforded to the likes of EA because people don't love anything about EA.

I'm sure plenty of people were unhappy with Space Marine II.
i thought BG3 was ♥♥♥♥, so i guess i can be unhappy about X 😆

if people are having fun they'll ignore the same old trash that never gets fixed for decades.

but as soon as the fun stops they'll remember all the trash you subjected them to.

Stellar Blade sold well and is considered good but there were still people angry about Denuvo .

BG3 avoids the woke tag because it isn't inherently woke. It has woke elements.
If other "woke " products put in lewd, romanceable shadowheart they'd instantly lose their entire bad reputation.
BG3 panders to the male gaze. No product that is woke from the ground up does that.
It also lets you murk any NPC you don't like. Chuds like me can just snub the weirdos from their save.
Starfield made such characters invulnerable. Worst you could do was knock them out.

GTA sells to normies that only buy 1 game a year. They don't care about price.

Bugs are context based. The type of bug matters.

I will never understand the Denuvo argument. Why people defend it, it's anti consumer. I understand most people just coooonsoooom, but if Denvou goes away, they take your game with them (not like you own your game anyways), unless the developer spends more resources to get rid of it and sometimes, some developers do get rid of it eventually.

There's a lot wrong with Denuvo for what little it does.

Denuvo has been a problem in the past- but it certainly isn't in every release.
Blanket hating denuvo even when it doesn't cause any performance problems is just extremist.

GTA is the only one that is justified for its price tag considering the amount of time and money spent on it. But no other game is gta and any game that pretends they are is doomed. Looking at you, outer worlds 2.

Rockstar has the pedigree. Obsidian? Garbage in comparison.

Unless, of course, X is a large enough problem that it makes the game not good. Witcher's bugs ruin its so-called immersion. Denuvo has often an instant pass for many. Hell, Disco Elysium has huge fans saying to not even buy the game because of what happened.

Nope, it's just efficient. The average person, let alone gamer, is dumber and lazier than a wet banana. No one's gonna do meticulous research to find specific versions and how they correlate to each specific game version to make sure it's okay to keep playing one damn game. The only ones that will do that are ones with extreme spite towards Denuvo that then spread their findings.

Nobody needs to do research.
If denuvo causes massive performance issues it will be reflected in a negative review score.

Price is determined by how much people are willing to pay, not by raw man hours

Steam is DRM
Much easier to just not care what others think. It's fine if others are unhappy with a game I enjoy. Or vice versa being happy with a game I don't enjoy (hey, HL series, looking at you)
