It will be just like the book, mediocre as hell
Looks like it still have a lot of creative liberties so it will differ from the book. Hopefully they remain faithful to the ending of the book. Overall I expect it to be average, I doubt it will sell as many tickets as the original movie did, but it should do better than the last marvel movie Iron Heart did.
I was talking about the book just today.

im not expecting much, hopefully it'll be fun/interesting.

Certainly not with Edgar Wright at the helm. Seems to be going for a black comedy vibe and this is something Edgar Wright has an extremely good track record.

In fact, I heard about this remake here for the first time and thought: Oh, no. Then I heard, that Wright was the director and I said: Now I need to watch it. After a google search I found out, that Wright co-wrote the movie and now it is the most anticipated movie of the year for me.

Set to release on November 7th, 2025, by Paramount pictures, it stars Glen Powell, William H. Macy, Michael Cera, and Josh Brolin.

Edgar Wright is slated as the director of the film, with past works including the famed Cornetto Trilogy, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Baby Driver, while his last release, Last Night in Soho was a box-office failure, grossing 23 million against 43 million despite being generally well-received by critics.

Although not much is known at the moment, it is touted as being a more "faithful adaptation" to the original King source material, differing in certain aspects from the '87 release starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Coincidentally, the original source material takes place in 2025, the year this new remake will be released.

Bearing all of this in mind, thoughts? Both on the '25, '87, and the book, to your hearts content.

Never heard of it.

looks too campy
but not the good fun campy of the 1987 movie.
the book was just dour and angry. king was having himself a rant about society.

. . . . they really ran out of ideas. It's all recycled garbage over and over.

production costs are too high. that means risks are less likely to be taken.

all the old machismo 70s-80s action stars are too old now. arnie, stallone, willis, van damme, eastwood. even some of the "younger" ones like statham, jet li and jackie are starting to getting up there in age.

we need a new era of machismo tough guys to do these kinds of films. i would have thought dave bautista might be one, but apparently he hates playing meat head characters and wants to be seen as a serious actor.
