Surprised There's No X-Files Games On Steam
Anyone remember the X-Files TV show? It was pretty awesome. The music was pretty awesomely spooky and mysterious sounding... perfect for a mystery/detective show like that with its episodes full of conspiracy theories. I'm surprised there aren't ANY X-Files games on Steam.

There are lots of detective games on Steam... Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, L.A. Noire, Disco Elysium, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Murdered: Soul Suspect, etc.

But no X-Files at all, despite the popularity of the show.

It would be interesting to see what could be done with that IP.

I believe Disney own the IP these days.

If Ryan Coogler gets his reboot off the ground, maybe they can be convinced to re-issue the '98 game.
There appear to be two major X-Files Games.

Unrestricted Access which was a PS1 game and is an 'interactive movie'.
Resist or Serve which was a PS2 game and looks to be a terrible Resident Evil clone.

Sadly the reboot absolutely wrecked the show's lore and probably both fan and creator enthusiasm. So it's highly unlikely we'll see anything new.
had to check how many games there is. The x files release in 1998 which i had, the x files unrestricted access also release in 1998, The X files resist or serve released in 2004 and then the last one in 2018 called the x files deep state

From looking it up on Mobygames and Gog, 'The X-Files' 1998 and 'The X-Files: Unrestricted Access' 1998 appear to be the same game. Maybe the subtitle was only for certain regions.
I remember being so scared watching late night TV and hearing the theme music playing at the start of each episode.

Really gave me the spooks.

could be. but still remembering seeing a trailer for the game, went out bought the game, finished it in a few short hours. was disappointing how extremely easy it was back then
I remember a PS1 game but never played it, think the reviews said it was bad.

can remember playing this with one of my friends, along side Men in Black and Saw the game. all equally bad or to an extant OKish. For some reason, not all games, but majority of spinoff games is not always good

What's the point of a CSI brand-name game though?

With X-Files there is a point ... because the X-Files world has its own lore, emphasis on conspiracy theories, paranormal mysteries, etc that other detective shows lack... whereas... isn't CSI just a generic detective show? So wouldn't basically any generic detective game work for that?
Just watched the episode that predicted 9 11 few months before

CSI was hyper focused on forensic science. It did get stale by episode 2.
