Are American cops nothing but thugs in uniform as Europeans see them?
What I mean is this: cops in European countries do not resort to such extreme measures such as "shoot first before interrogating them" instead, it's more on deescalating the situation first through dialog (without resulting in violence from the get go), plus cops in European countries finish training and graduate within 2-3 years while American cops only take a couple of months.

For example, a cop in a European country will have to complete training around 2-3 years before they're put on the spot and need prequesite degrees (masters) in law or criminal justice, they are taught on knowing that they're servants of the public & community (not warriors) while in the USA apparently, cops are indocrinated to think more like a warrior with a mind of "Us vs Them".

Even though there are bad cops in European countries, they at least have independent bodies to investigate and actually punish bad officers while in USA there's qualified immunity giving them a slap in the wrist (while in Europe that is not even a thing, they adhere to the same laws the public obliges and face the consequences just like anyone else, no special treatment provided).

Racial profiling exists in both spectrums in different ways: while there's racism from European cops: it tends to stem more on immigration (like ICE), as in racially profiling African immigrants asking for their papers such as passport, visa or residency card to verify legal status while in the USA: racism towards blacks just over the top, cops over there open fire on unarmed black man.

all cops, not just american
We love you American Cops!!!...You keep us safe and lay your life on the line to make it so...Please keep being you and do not even listen to this tool...After all, his European heroes cannot even stop a knife fight...
Right about cops attitude. Wrong about the racial stuff. Too much TV.

Overall, yes most American cops are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's more nuanced than "shoot first ask questions later" but frankly I don't think this is the right environment to have that conversation

i have interacted with many kind cops. i have also been thrown to the ground and put in handcuffs even when being peaceable. the job itself unfortunately requiring a bit of cruelty

No, but there are issues.

Most are good and honest. Hard-workers. That suffer from long hours.

...and then there are the other ones. Overzealous and way too aggressive. Abusing their power.

You tend to hear about one, and not the other. Media bias.

Have you ever watched 'COPS'? They do try to deescalate. More often than not, the suspect just runs. There's no opportunity for an interrogation.

That is a vast generalization.

Every area of U.S. cops have varied requirements. There's no consistency. No Federal oversight.

Want to be FBI? Prepare to be fully investigated. Have skills. Spend years at Quantico.

Or just join the local police. They'll take just about anybody. Because no one wants to be cops anymore.

Qualified immunity is a problem. However, it's not universally granted.

Try to put yourself in the place of a cop. A guy shoots at you. You fire back. He dies. Should you go to prison for life?

There are no ICE people patrolling my town asking African-Americans for their "papers". You are drinking some weird flavor of Kool-Aide.

I'd like to think the 'cop' issue revolves around a lack of education on law along with a lack of integrity/morals.

Some cops arrest people illegally, others are outright scumbags and should've never been hired in the first place.

With qualified immunity, they can't be sued for their actions, and if a police department does have to pay out, it's with taxpayer dollars.

Cops can be great, but the bad ones ruin it for all parties involved
There is racial profiling by cops. They see a black person driving a nice car they will pull them over for dwb. And ask to see if they own the car.

Just watch what happens when an acorn hits a police car 😂

US has the most crooked cops on the planet and the most people in prison of any nation on the planet.

There is no way to keep corrupt police from being corrupt if they have qualified immunity (can't be touched in a court).
It's all a money making racket really.

I have watched way to much american police video's to see that in the united states, the criminals are very dangerous, not only dangerous but also armed and willing to use them guns against police officers and public in general. No wonder american police take no chances, letting your guard down basically means being killed or going home to your family.

I can't say about the rest of europe but in the UK both the police and the criminal are not armed, so policing takes on a different route. Unlike ameircan and european police, british police are more vulnerable simply due to not being armed.

I really don't think soo, these 3rd world countries are way more corrupt. I seen video's were some 3rd world police officers simply beat the crap out of suspects and nothing happens. In the western world, police have to think twice.
