You never hear about CEO's losing their jobs due to downsizing or ai. Huh...

AI is the future so it makes sense to invest in Ai rather than human.

apparently 9000 is 4% of their work force

Just a stock market thing of no real note, companies loudly fire a bunch of people to prop up their stock value, then hire back just as many and more during the period until they next fire a bunch of people with a lot of PR. Repeat as needed.

With the example of Microsoft for the last 15 years there are only 3 years where their total headcount was lower than the year before, and within a couple of years it is always higher again.

This will go about as well as when they tried to utilize the Ballmer Peak.

"All people are equal, but some are more equal than others"...

It's not just AI, MS is hiring less skilled workers at cheaper rates.

Looks like Microsoft hired 10,000 foreigners with H-1B visas in 2024 and 5,000 so far in 2025.
They will likely meet last years foreigner hire of 10,000 for 2025.

So Microsoft is only cutting American jobs, everybody else is getting jobs there.

The irony is that the AI will eventually come to the conclusion that Microsoft should hire more smelly humans.

Looking forward to this backfiring spectacularly.
