What happened to Bioware?
They had great people in the 90s and 2000s before the steady decline into slop. Where did the good ones go to?

What slop are you referring to?
Can't wait for this one to devolve into a discussion about "le woke".

But to answer you seriously: EA. EA is what happened. They are famous for gutting, hollowing out, and then discarding pretty much every gaming company they acquire.
It is simply Bioware's turn on the chopping block.

People die and move on to other roles/companies.

I never understood idolizing a company.
I actually recently watched a documentary about Spore's development. EA was reeaaaal pleased for having successfully scapegoated the "make spore cutesy" guy. He was thrown under the bus hard.

Then they could chop Maxis's head off and push the dev studio into the grave without Gamers realising how hard they were duped and played.

Part of the Bioware recipe was that it used to be easier to bring a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a project done by a couple dozen guys together. Can't do that now.

For the record though, I liked Veilguard. It was pretty good, and I didn't get even go to the parts where people say it actually gets good.

The slop after 2010. No need for specifics.

I asked about individuals, and you interpret that as idolizung a company. I don't think I can communicate with a person on that basis.
They died or moved on to other companies.
Greg Zeschuk makes beer now.

David Gaider went on to make some game called stray gods.

Ray and Greg three ex-bioware people I've never heard of made a game trilogy banner saga

I believe Casey Hudson is in the planning stages of some other sci-fi game similar to mass effect.

The AAA industry is getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in general, it isn't as personal as mass effect. I'm listening to a podcast as I type this, student of game colleges are overall turning down opportunities to work for AAA.

Usually this. Fans can’t differentiate reality and fiction and don't want anything new but playing a safe version that they have known.
Pressures from fans and higher ups make people want to have creative freedom leave actually as they just find it is hard to please others if they don’t want to
