but european living near polar circle look white

What are we, Flamingos? I don't think I've ever seen a pink white person.

I'm white and my skin's not pink. I'd say I'm off white in colour, and during sunnier months I go various shades of brown.

Just a small handful of Europeans look like pink baby mice, but I would say most of them are more of a pale beige.

I think it's because movies were originally only in black and white, so that was applied to people as well.

honestly we're white, in ireland people are super white too, in southern europe a bit olive because of the sun but we're white not pink or peach

Honestly, names feel like cancer of our times. And history - evergrowing number of words and meanings that aren't even near practice. Maybe it has a bad purpose?
