Some things never change

No, he isn't. Desantis tanked Florida over COVID.
Instead of paying people more money he chose to reduce the age for hiring people in the state to aspiring teens (there aren't really any aspiring teens in Florida, not for doing hard work for chump change, that is) so everything stayed exactly the way it is.
The only other thing that happened is that when he did that the laborforce of milennials all left the state and now there's a huge supply and demand ratio in the labor force that is heavily unbalanced in pretty much every field.
It solidified Florida in its historical context of being the place where the wealthy elderly go to retire.
The problem is, that there are now employment shortages in the infrastructure thanks to the fact that "why would I work for chump change here, when I can just move out of state and get paid more and have a better quality of life as a result?"
I would have honestly preferred it, if Desantis would've just came out and said:
"Sorry. I got nothin'. No solution to this problem. None. Zip. Zero. Nada."
THAT I would've at least respected instead of the slowrolling of whatever the Hell is he is trying to do.

As for the Alligator Alcatraz thing, it's not the Alligators down there you should be worried about.
