Why are video games censored for stuff allowed to be shown in cinema?
I mean, why is it that video games are subjected to censorship (for the same or similar stuff shown in cinema)? Like this: I've heard that Ready or Not was subjected to censorship despite the game being for older players, but can't they just watch movies with content similar or kind of like the game (as in action sequences): End of Watch, Die Hard, Inside Man, The Negotiator, etc.

The thing with movies is that you are just a third-party observer witnessing the actions portrayed in the movie itself while video games immerse the player (partaking it the events virtually), why is it that video games tend to face censorship more than in cinema for exactly the same content? Before games, movies were also subjected to censorship, as in "bad" scenes are edited out.

How it would be noticed is that: when watching the movie normally (expecting to see that scene in particular at the final cut) it skips to a random part omitting the incoming scene (as it was removed due to censorship) despite being shown in theaters or streaming sites even though the audience watching are adults even though the movie is already classified for audiences over 18.

I hate it when movies sometimes do this, as in ones that contain scenes depicting graphic imagery or parts where torture is present (as in the actors in it are pretending to be in pain but the makeup and CGI make it look realistic). There are movies with stuff found from GTA V that exist within that genre: Scarface, The Italian Job, Ronin (1998), etc. but are those censored or not?

When it comes to depicting the grittiest details (like SAW or Final Destination both have blood & gore, but you are watching the characters dying rather than partaking in their deaths) while developing a game with similar content from those movies, suddenly it gets censored: like why? For some reason it's like they allow it in movies but hate it when the same is found in games.

Lets see:
1. Cultural Marxist Virtue Signaling
2. Chinese censorship (Also Marxist)
3. Meeting Sustainablility Indexes for Funding (Marxist once again)

Pretty much Marxism is the reason.
Yeah, there's still some censorship in movies, especially big productions. These days, when it's not about the age rating, it's usually to avoid offending international audiences.

That said, it's much easier to self-publish a movie than a game. You can release a production like A Serbian Film and no one's gonna stop you, but if you wanna release a game, you're counting on the goodwill of whatever platform you use (Steam, Playstation, etc.), and there's only so much they will tolerate.

Either way, whether you're a game dev or a filmmaker, you usually don't want to be known for making the most repulsive rape and torture content known to man. No one's gonna work with you.
There are plenty of weirdo 18+ games out there, so not sure if your argument is valid.

In terms of Ready or Not, they merged the PC and console branches to make updating easier, and to meet console requirements, they had to censor a few things.

It has nothing to do with actual censorship and has everything to do with the devs not wanting to work off of two separate game builds.

They could create an opt-in for PC players to continue using the original build with no crossplay being the tradeoff.

PS: And if you're speaking on censorship in the console market: It's because they have shareholders. They dictate what is or isn't appropriate with their giant piles of money.
