Politics isn't nonsense. According to ancient philosophers, the citizens who neglect public matters and stay away from civic affairs, are considered bad citizens, potentially dangerous for the state, plus were regularly ostracized/exiled, or reformed.

The only nonsense is that lots of people are fed up with the system, but instead of participating in procedures to affect it, or even voicing their own opinion, they actively sabotage even those who do.

(in antiquity era fora, there was even vote by voice count, on important matters, that most civilians used to attend).

Politics affects *everything*, even if one finds it boring.
