♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This.
Also your president loves being pleased, appreciated, being seen as important, etc. He acts and responds to anything that makes him be publicly seen as more important.
EU and US have almost reached a deal. What does Trump do? Throw up tariffs and pretend he's putting pressure, because deals are either not going on at all, or are failing, and then... he finishes the deal and boom; suddenly Trump is seen as the hero.
This is how your president works. This is the pattern he keeps repeating. The odd part is that the EU MPs do not see this, but yeah- Every major event is like this, including the wars and such. All of it is a tool for your president to achieve greatness and admiration.
In case of critique or whatever, he'll distract away from it using quick political nonsense. Usually the other republics stand after him, since he is so easy to manipulate and such, but lately, even the red states are asking questions like "why are you trying to gaslight us here". Meh-
MAGA is just about making trump the hero in the end. He causes problems, then he saves you. He needs the support of the richest, who also control the media, hense he supports the rich.
But of course, he needs to make things bad for the rest, so that he can save you later, or blame other people for it and then attack those.
----
Edit to say:
But now that you know that, when your president does something ridiculous like suddenly raising Tariffs by a bit, you can be sure that they actually managed to make some sort of settlement or deal.
However, if he raises Tariffs by a lot, like with Russia for example, he got nowhere.
The reason he critiqued Israel, was because he found a way to make himself look great after being friends again. The reason why he immediately sended airplanes to a bunker that was already being emptied in Iran, was so that he could get more appreciation and admiration. The reason why he meddled with the India Pakistan tension, was so that he could be seen as the peace maker
(likely those two would not have escalated anything either way, because they know its bad.)
(he didn't need to aid Israel either; its just an opportunistic moment for a faster delivery / take down.)
Honestly, its nothing new with the US though. There are other cases throughout history where, they drop by when there is no need to claim some influence through guilt tripping, threats (blackmail usually) and claiming they haven't been appreciated enough, usually in combination with that 'it was their fault' the whatever incident happened and that the US is the good guy, basically. Trump isn't the first to display similar behavior, but he is the first to do this a lot and the first to basically do this to his own people so overtly.
