no it wouldn't .... there would be nothing to solve . We live in an age where cctv cameras and door cams exist. People would instantly spot the rhino and some old guy with a shot gun would just shoot it. The detective would find out within a day that it was a rhino on the lose. Not to mention everyone has phones these days and record everything. No detective is going to be searching for bodies for months or years trying to solve a case involving a rhino.

That idea sounds like it was generated by AI . That's bad writing because it doesn't make sense . You'd need to add like 5 layers of fiction and come up with a creative plot that would rival a 20 season anime to even make that idea a success .

The main issue with your idea is that it has plot holes .... plot holes pulls the viewer out of the story and ruins surrealism . The issue is the fact that the movie would end before it even gets started .

Don't take this too seriously but that idea sounds like it was made for a " mOdErN aUdIeNcE "

it could work if the detective finds the rhino in the first 5 minutes of the film and it : Talks , transports him to some other world , gives the detective an ability , or its some shape shifting creature . Something that goes the fantasy route would be best suited for an idea like that . I mean if the detective really can't figure out whats going on ... maybe something about the rhino is other worldly that can branch off into a bunch of unique ideas .
