I doubt it'd become a continent. The plates combining Africa and South America separated, it created an ocean, not a continent.

a portion of the town of Grindavik was cordoned off due to lava piping eroding the bedrock. but i think its settled down now.

Earth can be unpredictable. Tourists can think they are safe because for decades they are watching from what is believed a safe distance until one day it erupts violently. Science is getting better at mapping out what goes on underneath but lots we don't know how things are stirring deeper.

Tectonic plates periodically diverge, and after some time come together into a single continent. During the existence of the Earth, there have been about 6 such cycles.

Hmmm is Iceland more European or American? Speaking of tectonics of course.

dont think, land going to sink to ocean too

not new continent was created since ocean exist, only cut in different part or assembling in big part that it

only new land are small island, born and gone, think hawaii, western is big, but eastern part gone to ocean

same going to happen iceland, older part going to sink
