The Americanization of English accents
So since last year, there has been a massive adoption of accent training apps such as "Elsa Speak" by corporations and call centers to train their staff. I read online and on AI that such accent training apps are mostly used by Indians and Japanese people, but a lot of multinational companies and call centers have been giving their staff paid subscriptions of such apps

The only thing that came to my mind is that the trope of making non White actors do super thick ethnic accent for hollywood movies will be gone since there will be a single unified accent.

What do you think of a world where everyone speaks with a single English accent?

America has more than one accent, Europe will continue to exist, and you don't actually absorb an accent unless you're properly immersed in it for a very long time. This will make it easier for call centers to scam old ladies, but it won't eliminate the concept of having a different accent
I think regional accents will always be a thing, if there is so many dialects in the British Isles after this long after radio and television have become common place, what is the likelihood of someone from China, Russia, or Nigeria suddenly losing their accent and sound like they are from the Midwestern in the US.

Still there are advantages of having 1 universal language, and English is as good candidate as any.

They've been using AI to scam people since 2023, they don't use human voices for scamming anymore
It's their choice, they can do what they want

Now they just need to do a modified version for French people
The US has always been English because of the US once being a collection of colonies in the 16 to 1700s. We're arent really changing the fact that most of the world speaks English because of Britain.

This is about AI apps and how people in Asia are rapidly changing their English accents to an American one, mostly because they're forced by their companies to do so or they're trying to move to USA
I say I have hearing difficulties so require a person fluent in the English language when I have to talk to a call center.

Generally I am quickly put through to a competent person instead of having to deal with people who are terrible at the English language and attempt to read from scripts.

Some people claim it is really bad French.
