It kind of makes sense why an HOA would limit trees specifically. Because they will eventually grow outside the scope of your property and could damage other people's property. This is one of those rare cases where an HOA could actually be considered in the right. Where as normally they're telling you what colours you can and can't use to paint your house, when it is your property and you should be allowed to do whatever you want with your property.
