Could I realistically do acting?
I've thought about doing acting. It's funny, cause as a dancer, you're already predisposed to exaggerating a performance, just in body movement. So exaggerating one's personality and stage presence (which is basically part of acting) seems only natural and an extension.

Hell, it wouldn't even be about the money for me. I LOVE exaggerating a character trait and really getting into a role. I'd just be for the fun and art, and money would be a bonus. I just wonder where they let people these days try their shot.

You could do better than the latest wonder woman im sure
I played as a zombie extra once for a T.V. show. :csdsmile::magic_wand::vampiregirl:
Seen plenty of projects on youtube, but no idea how, when or where they do auditions.

Follow your dreams however I wouldn't recommend acting to anyone as a career. It's because unless you have a main lead, the income isn't great and you could be on hold for a long time in between contracts.

I know a few actors from popular TV series and they all struggle financially.

That is almost exactly what I was going to say.

Although it is true that creative types can do multiple things, some things may or may not apply when crossing over.

And getting truly good at something can require considerable work.

yes become a famous actor
You could look into joining a local stage group. You might start off as an extra with no lines, but its being around the craft that will benefit you the most.
Anyone can act. Join your local Am Dram group.

I loved backstage work rather than on stage stuff.
I think you could. A performance where the actor is enjoying themself is always a fun time.

If you were natural beautiful charismatic actor you would have already been pushed in that direction. Not saying don't try as we always need those quirky side characters but if you were Brad Pitt or Jim Carrey you would already be aware of it.

That is not entirely true.

There is demand for many looks and types.

Many do well by continually plugging away.

Hey if you like doing it I say go for it.

The ultimate trick is if you can not land a job with others doing it. Then take the first step and create your own thing. And become a actor in that and find others who would be interested to.

Its more than exaggeration and working landing opportunities is incredibly competitive unless its fun past time hobby personally

I believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to. Hard work and sacrifices are mandatory. If you want it, then go out there and make it happen.

I have trained acting after graduating and some years later I actually played a couple of seasons in a comedy theater group.

It was great fun (as you said not about the money) and very rewarding to entertain people and actually see them laughing when a funny scene landed.

But for a hobby it was also very demanding and time consuming, not to mention that theater productions are NEVER conflict-free.

Nowadays I only do stand up, which is simple, easy and entertains people as well.

If you are more the extrovert type and love experimenting you could try "clowning", which is much harder than stand up but also a lot more rewarding.

You do stand up, huh? Yeah, I kinda got the vibe from you that you'd handle hecklers very well. :3
