WNBA players wear shirts reading "Pay us what we're worth"
They now owe the NBA approximately $400 million.

i do not watch basketball because it is not big in my country, but some of the wnba players like hailey van lith and cameron brink are so cute.
Didn't know investing in womens sports was a personal vandetta now.
Id respond with "okay, 20% increasE? Cool, lose 30% of your salary and we're good." now they've lsot 30% because the wnba has no income. You wanna have a stake in the company? You cant have that and then also get a strict lump sum.

So they want less money? Makes sense.

The usually Marxist types trying to create "us vs them" division have made women in sports believe they deserve to be paid as much as men do. The problem is, men's sports generate billions more in revenue. They can afford to give top level professional athletes $20M/year contracts. Women sports simply do not pull the kind of revenue to afford that by any metric.

The reason for this is, men watch sports an overwhelmingly larger amount than women. Right now I think the ratio is somewhere around 3:1, and that's at an all time high for women viewership.

So convince a large group of people that they are entitled to something they're actually not, they will immediately view themselves as a victim of the people who do not give it to them.
Capitalism says no because money doesn’t grow on trees
I wish people pay me for playing even if nobody wants to go see me or buy my jerseys
I'm training and trying hard you know

It's not even capitalism. Just the simple rule of supply and demand that has governed all of humanity since the dawn of time. If you have little to offer that someone else wants, they're not going to offer you much in return either.
Actually have never heard of the WBA only the NBA,

It's so sad when people don't understand basic economics. They see a graph that says "CEOs make X00 times more than their workers" and they think that's money being taken away from them.

Not exactly. The W.N.B.A. experienced a 170% year on year increase in viewership for the regular season in 2024[www.wnba.com]. It is still a drop in the bucket compared to the regular N.B.A., but there is an increase in demand for watching the female players with what I assume to be the same supply of female talent, so the law of supply and demand dictates that their wages should increase proportionate to the increase in viewership.

Now let's see a graph on their profits.

There's going to be a bit of lag time with that. Profits won't increase until new contracts are drafted with the sponsors to reflect the added value of the additional viewership.
