For example, a girl gets raped by her parents and run away from home to live on the street. Lo and behold, some lady comes to take her little dog too, and leaves her with a parting insult. At some point the abuse just becomes absurd and almost tragicomic.
But hey, I'm no Roger Ebert. To each his own.
I didnt mind it at all, if anything it made it more interesting to me when I was 13 (I was even edgier than now)
the scene where she breaks out of the lab and slaughters all the scientists is iconic, and has influenced a lot of media. other than that aye, elfen lied is mostly forgettable.
I'm roasting Elfen Lied a little, but it's far from the worst thing I've watched. Mirai Nikki was godawful.
