mapmakers are a rare valuable resource, so the independent contracting market cannot exist. they must be controlled so as to become indentured labor, and this means there can never be so many as to offer their services for hire.

so ask yourself: "am i valuable enough to be a middling companys personal slave?"

tripwire only has the one for instance, and he seemingly has only played quake fortress' 2fort map.
