Just learned poison ivy ONLY harms humans
animals even eat it

other ape creatures can be affected as well because of similar immune systems to humans, but there not anywhere close to poison ivy in their natural locations

what should we do with this information? destroy poison ivy?

its after us specifically

-the first guy is right it can affect some animals a bit but its not like a giant alergic reaction and some dogs can eat it without puking/diarrhea

Poison Ivy's urushiol oil is what causes human to develop a rash.

It's a myth that it however only affects humans, it can affect animals too. They just don't develop the rash from it like humans do.

Some animals can eat it without negative effects. Animal's fur also adds protection (like clothing).

Dogs are the next closest to be affected by it similar to humans, on areas the fur doesn't protect them. They could get red and itchy on their belly or nose, etc. If they eat it, they would vomit and/or have diarrhea.

Wear clothing when you're walking in poison ivy.

You're jolly welcome :KneelingBow:
Goats will eat this stuff.
That's kinda backwards, it's only harmful to humans because of its specific chemical structure. Like how the THC in cannabis coincidentally is identical to the cannabinoids produced naturally in your body.

Other plants are harmful to other animals. Dogs can't eat grapes, birds hate oranges, mint kills a bunch of different species of insect, etc. etc. etc.
How did you learn that?

I can't just take your word for it. You have to explain it, so it makes sense. And it has to make sense in such a way that people can understand it.

Dogs can eat poison ivy.

But dogs are poisoned by chocolate.

I'll let them have poison ivy and they can let me have chocolate. Excellent transaction.

That happens all the time where I live out in the woods on the coast near Humboldt. Everyone burns their brush waste out here and poison oak gets caught in it all the time. I'll randomly have mild irritation on my eyelids or between my legs because it carried on the wind from miles away and hit me with a wisp just hard enough to get my most sensitive skin.

dogs are also poisoned by grapes and raisins, cats are similarly poisoned by both. when i was still working at a vet, i cannot tell you the amount of utter morons who would bring their sick cats/dogs in and then tell me they fed them something that will cause absolute organ failure. cruel and stupid idiots, the lot.

They are poisoned by the cocoa specifically. So, in theory, white chocolate will not hurt them since it doesn't contain cocoa.
