Are there 2D Souls-like games? I suppose Shovel Knight uses the whole 'get back to where you were to get your currency back' thing, but I don't know if it counts.
Of course, nobody has ever been able to satisfactorily explain what "souls like" is to me, and what sets it apart from DMC and Ninja Gaiden and Onimusha, or any other moderately challenging 3rd person melee combat game.
To me the distinction lies in the deliberate use of stamina during combat, the multiplayer, and the way stats, soft caps, and weapon scaling, etc are handled.
