Unreal Engine 5 sucks. Stop using it
First the elephant in the room. Performance. Games in UE 5 run poorly even on high end systems. 35 FPS on a 5090 in the Oblivion remaster maxed out in 4k with no DLSS. What in the actual F?

It doesn't look that good in the first place. Reflections are especially bad. Half-Life 2 water reflections look better than most reflections in UE 5 games. Battlefield 1 puts to shame your average UE 5 game while running on a potato. Replace BF 1 with many other AAA games from the same era and it still applies.

Physics. Does it even have physics? Everything looks so static. The environment, the objects, vegetation, water. You blow up a giant bomb and nothing is affected. Everything feels weightless. The vehicles, bodies, furniture. They just seem to "float".

Lack of destruction. Not just a lack of blowing up walls. But chaos in general. Max Payne 2 excels at this. A gunfight can leave blood splatters everywhere, bodies everywhere that do NOT despawn, walls heavily damaged by bullets, explosion scars on the floor. Then you got a small mod called Project Brutality for a 32 year old game that takes the chaos up to 11.

I hate UE 5.

fortnite made so much money that epic now needs to bootstrap the greatest engine ever, or else people will stop believing that finance determines reality.

and finance doesn't determine reality, so it's a ♥♥♥♥ engine that's been ♥♥♥♥ out for ♥♥♥♥ reasons.

maybe the investors disagree?

alright mate. as a non-dev I decided to stop all my non-existing game project that use UE—but sadly i have none.

RIP Unreal Tournament 4, regardless.

I remember building some stuff in UDK back in the day. Exciting times, but no longer, so it seems.

Yeah. It's overly bloated and inefficient.

Every game (I know of) that "upgraded" from 3 or 4 had worse performance.

A larger potato. Ideally the sweet potato variety, because it's red. And everyone knows that red maks it go faster. Purple potato is more stable however.

It's going to take a radish, dude.
Could try a nice red onion.

Yeah ♥♥♥♥ UE5
im not overly impressed by UE5 as an end user.

it's definitely got lots of sexy bells and whistles but I've not been blown away by any game that uses it. so far.

The Oblivion remake is probably my favourite but that's mostly due to the game itself.

From the gameplay vid I watched it looked like they thoroughly uglified Oblivion, and that's about it. Muted color palette, all the mystical and whimsical erased. Just generic bland boring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (BBB for short).

The Unreal Engine was initially made for linear single player games (Unreal) and arena shooters (Unreal Tournament). Trying to bloat it up in order to turn it into some sort of jack of all trades was a big mistake. This what I was saying for years now.
the only impressive games using it are held back by it as far as I know.

their finances are tied up in the engine, and they do the best they can with it, but in an ideal world they'd be using anything else.
