you shift in order to cover your jaw, or to go from one direction to the other right?

think of every problem area as another jaw line, requiring another shift. its own little island that needs its own little approach vector.

or just do an electric 1.2mm shave.

Get a razor with a flexible blade, i still get the odd tiny cut or what not but I can pretty much be as aggressive as I want.

it's more dangerous than you think

Always use shaving cream to prevent cuts. And shaving well is also a learning curve. Me personally I do not shave. I do however wax because it removes hair from the root and keeps everything smooth for longer.

anyone got any? i keep nicking myself around bumps but nothing seems to work conventionally / dexterity wise

i don't like having a beard or mustache so much in summer b/c it is hot af and they get very sweaty.

Don't know what to tell you. Wash your face first, apply shaving cream. If you don't have shaving cream, use lotion. If multi-blades don't work for you, get a straight-edge. I like the slight rugged look myself, so I just use an electric razor on the closest setting to give myself permanent slight stubble. If and when I do give myself a close shave, there's genuinely no real tips; it's just intuitive. Shave down until clean, shave against the grain if you're a masochist and have aftershave/alcohol

A lot will depend on what type of razor you're using. A safety blade is OK for maybe one good shave, but they soon blunt and start to pluck rather than shave. Have you considered a skin guard sensitive razor? They are designed for men with sensitive skin and the design of the blade head should make it easier to avoid nicks and cuts.

Make sure you pull your skin tight, the lubra strip on most razors will help it to glide over your face, if you use shaving cream or gel it will be even smoother.

I use the Gillette Labs razors, absolutely fantastic, I shave down as well as up and only rarely nick myself, usually when the razor is becoming blunt or the lubra strip is damaged.

It's just practice, you could give yourself a little test, aim for no cuts or nicks, if you do, for every one, you have to put a little money in the bank, it's a great way to learn and save, and it gives you spare cash to buy more razors.
