idea for tongue-in-cheek action game
EDIT: added combat option

I am posting this mainly for the fun of it. If some dev is actually interested feel free to contact me. Apart from that I hope this makes somebody´s day a little better.

basic ideas for story and gameplay

The king tasked you with protecting his pet sheep in his absence. Since his conquest is taking a lot longer than anticipated he begins to miss his sheep and orders you to bring it to the distant country he is currently at. This forces you to pass through increasingly dangerous environments.
As a shepherd you are fighting off animals, monsters and possibly people – possibly also solving environment puzzles to unlock the path/new equipment
You are protecting only one sheep but it is a very special one.
Use your environment in combat and in protecting the sheep

target audience

-probably PG13 or lower
-fans of lighthearted humor, tactical action and fantasy (possibly also puzzle solving)

features regarding the sheep

-use the environment: Hiding the sheep behind a bush makes it invisible to enemies with bad eyesight and less visible to normal enemies. Hiding the sheep in a crack prevents large enemies from reaching it. Caves are both for hiding AND preventing large enemies from reaching the sheep.

enemies

-wolves: maybe starting with an old singular wolf (tutorial) the danger inrceases with their strenght and numbers
-bandits?
-increasingly dangerous monsters: goblins, trolls, finally a wolf dragon

combat options
-you start off with a simple staff and/or slingshot
-you´ll find stronger weapons like spears and swords possibly explosive pots as well
-use your staff/polearm to make enemies trip: If you´ll time it right you can dodge an enemy and place your weapon in a way that makes him trip. Being too early allows them to jump over the weapon and/or counterattack.

man that eats pills and chases ghosts

We actually live in a utopia, where

"The bird is the word "

And it plays as our Utopian Anthem

I think that it should be a Souls-like game with "PG-13 or lower" fatalities mixed in. Can't hurt to make it open world, with plenty of MTX and DLC. Game should start at around $29.99. Indie studio, no doubt!

I agree that it sounds very much like Indie and not full price. Open world could detract from the idea of having a specific journey from A to B (bring the sheep to the king) though. I think semi-open would be ideal since that allows for some exploration and the narrative not loose to much momentum. To me it sounds like a 7 hour game since the idea could wear out if it was a longer game.

What does MTX mean in this context?

MTX = micro-transactions in the gaming sense. Many purchases of the in-game ilk. Different colors, textures, armor, skins, etc for the robes, staffs, weapons, sheep 'bling', etc...

Thanks for the explantation.
Just think about it, you've got a herd of sheep that you are taking with you, and you find even more along the way (the king will be very happy), and eventually, you have so many sheep, that it gets crazy. But, the in-game market, or not in-game market, or DLC, perhaps, will allow you to get 'bing' for your sheep. Think of all 33,000,000 of your sheep with gold chains, diamond/gold dental grillz, hats, scarfs, kicks, headphones, etc. Just a way to give back to the Indie studio that every loves and respects!
