Can people shower with cold water to save money on their utilities?
I mean, using hot water for showers is just considered normal (usually via utilities for it to heat the water source, like electricity or gas) as using cold water constantly can lead to sickness as the human body can't sustain excessive cold temperature (like this: would you head outside shirtless wearing underwear whilst it's snowing outside?), that's what showering with cold water feels like.

One could use open flame to heat water (but that's not a permanent solution) plus boiling hot water isn't good either to shower with as that burns the skin. Just to save on utilities (never using electricity or gas), fine with using cold water to shower (however is that even sustainable for a long term towards the human body as people can only tolerate and live in certain temperatures).

I don't think you'll save that much money, but cold water showers are actually very healthy for you if you can handle them.
You can sometimes turn your hot water cylinders thermostat down to save power.

I was thinking this exactly; there are better ways to save money. I use cold showers after workout to help muscle recover or to diminish inflammation but that's all.

Edit: In some countries they use buckets of water to wash in order to save water but it's not a financial move. It's more for water preservation.

+1 for cold showers. Good for the body and soul. Start with luke-warm and slowly decrease.
Asimov had a few things to say about that in the last couple Foundation sequels.
if you don't shower you save more money and you can larp as climate activist saving the environment

Don't shower at all to save even more money.

Use 1 light bulb instead of multiple to save money.
Cold shower is for hot season like summer. Like right now.

It'll keep Æthelred's boys away, at least.

Cold shower won't actually lower the core body temp, and can wreck your complexion by contracting pores, making them clog easier.

Wearing a teeshirt in the shower and air drying afterwards makes a huge difference, on the other hand.

You need to linger in cold water for an extended period to cool core body temp.

sure showering cold saves money.

you can alternatively also shower at a colder but not fully cold temperature shouwer with a water saving showerhead (less liter per min) or shower less often or a shorter duration.

lastly a more efficient HR+ or solarpowered boiler can help reduce cost too.

as for how much showering cost.

-average shouwertrip would be 15 min.
-average showerhead uses 10 liter per min..
-average showertemp is 45C

if we presume cold water is 10C (reasonable number)
than your showertrip uses

150 liter water
1.8 m3 gas

well now for me..

water = 0.19 cent per liter.
gas = 2 euro per m3
both including all taxes.

so a hot 15 min long shower costs :
0.29 euro for water
3.60 euro for gas
3.89 euro total.

so showering colf does save you a lot!

but you can compromise..
install a maximum watersaving showerhead (5 liter a min)
shower at just 30C (warm not hot)
and just shower 5 min (a auicl shouwer not a pleasant soak

than you only need
25 liter water (0.05 euro)
0.19 m3 gas (0.39 euro)
= 0.44 euro.

while maintaiming a lot more comfort than with your 15 min cold shower.
and worth spending 0.44 euro instead of 0.29..

you sure can.

or you can install a solar heating system to passively heat the water in a holding tank to be used later, like i did. 👍

got a heater on demand for the winter months where there's less solar exposure, but it does a pretty good job. heating water from 20C to 30C is a lot less expensive than coming from a standard water main temperature.

bout to throw 10kw of electrical solar panels on my house too, they come with a 30 year warranty, so i figure the price is right 👍
FYI an open flame does heat your water.
