Can you name a bad movie you thought had potential?
You can either name one movie or you can create a list of bad films that had a creative premise but was lacking in execution.

I can name a few:
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Mission to Mars
IF
Blank Check
The Happening
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Interview with the Vampire (1994), it could've been a really insane story about depths of being a vampire, wars, powerful abilities, deep psychological stuff (I know there was some, but it's not something out of imagination, huge amount of lore for "vampire nerds", instead it's a package that can be described as "you can watch this movie, to get to know what is a vampire with cool actors like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise".

I honestly really enjoyed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It's cheesy fun.

I enjoyed these too but they could have been much better

- Sucker Punch (for obvious reasons like MTV tier shots and the "mind escape" fantasy is prostitution. Like really???? but it's still a fun time)

- Ghost of Mars (the first half imo was pretty solid and it got weird)

- Skinamarink (it was a bit too long. I've seen the short but I didn't prefer that either. Creative and spooky but something is definitely missing.)

I think it is good. It pretty much has what u said, imo. But of course quality is subjective.
When DC started competing with Marvel after Iron Man dropped, I actually had high expectations for those DC films. DC's cinematic universe is woefully pathetic compared to Marvel's entertaining cinematic universe!

SO, every DC film, with the exception of the recent Batman film. Since the first Marvel Iron Man film.

I thought the film was alright, I've seen worse... but admittedly, I thought the execution would've been a little better.
Underworld.

Aesthetically it looks really cool, I love trench coats and a woman that could kick my ass, but man was it boring. If it had more fights and metal music blasting during them I'd adore it, but oh well, I guess that's what original Daredevil is for.. Unsure if sequels follow the same route but I've heard they're all worse.
Give me unsupervised access to nvidia's AI stack and I can make a bunch of crap that might better OR worse then what you see today.

Plus you get to watch me go to court afterwards with $pple fruitful fixxed hollywood money, that will most likely fail badly anyways.

Aside from most 21st century movies being cheapened generic poorly directed crap I think I've outgrown movies, I can't watch them anymore, I NEED MORE stimulation.
Happy Gilmore 2

Lots of bad movies have potential. I would say of movies I saw recently it's Napoleon. Could've been a good biographical movie about what made him the way he was as commander when he was a kid, how he was growing up on Corsica, and that he wasn't on French side in the beginning.

Instead it's a fiction rather than an actual historical movie. Napoleon had a lot of flaws and was very egotistical, but without him there wouldn't be modern Europe, or the Enlightenment.

Mortal kombat annihilation. Could be as good as it's predecessor but it was disappointing.

Resident Evil welcome to raccoon city, they could have made a better movie if it didn't have both of the stories of RE 1 and 2 in it.

Max Payne, the movie had potential to be good. But Hard boiled ended up being a better Max Payne movie than Max Payne itself.

Lord of the rings Hobbit trilogy. They should have only made 1 movie for it.

Terminator salvation. In my opinion, it would have been a better movie if it was just about humans vs terminators but they decided to make the half human-half robot the main protagonist.

Here are the ones that came to my mind for now.
