and their victims, the fair.

vibrant and golden and filled with fruit and tea,
all manner of goodness grows at its feet and falls from its branches,
and where it lands it lands softly and whole.
None are bothered by its presence,
fruitmaker and teaseller alike,
all live in harmony under its branches.
This tree is why Li is a village you cannot see.
but this is a bit off..
Too straightforward and simplistic. Synthetic sound and synthetic voices.

actually the last one I quoted ends suggesting that empires from outside the village cut it down in order to have something to argue over, and that people have forgotten because the village and everything nearby was destroyed.
the shift from golden city to forbidden city is considered more genteel in the series.
did you know that the imperial city was paved in gold under the golden emperor? but, when he abdicated and the empire fell into regency and rule at the hands of bureaucracy, soon there was nobody to stop gold peelers from turning the streets black again.
the top regent, Tang Zhaomou, then paved the city black before dying of poison a mere 20 years into his reign. people decided to associate him with bronze instead; copper and tin was more his level, rather than obsidian.
the obsidian was later deconstructed and used in bloodworks that have been destroyed over time.
no wonder the king, restored to british empire, destroyed all depictions of his skull during latin colonization.
Hmm... I suppose you’d have to have grown up reading Astrid Lindgren’s books to truly appreciate this song in adulthood. To me, it’s such a beautiful song - one that banishes shadows and fills your mind with lightness and sadness.. This is a song about the bird of sorrow
"There was a big black bird sitting there. All the other birds in my father’s garden were white, but this one was black as night. Its song was the most beautiful of all, though it sounded sad. It was called the Bird of Sorrow, and Yum-Yum loved it despite its darkness, saying, 'It has kind eyes.'" (с)
Well, this song is part of the primary school curriculum in Russia. Every kid learns it at some point..
ARE YA SMOKIN YET?
By Edgar Allan Poe
Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old—
This knight so bold—
And o’er his heart a shadow—
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow—
‘Shadow,’ said he,
‘Where can it be—
This land of Eldorado?’
‘Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,’
The shade replied,—
‘If you seek for Eldorado!’
