How do you know when you are DONE with a game.
Being 31 years old and growing up with many games, I have definitely played alot of games on and off. Currently thinking about getting back into old school runescape. Not to make the discussion about osrs but for an example. I am on the fence though. The pull back is not that intense and its more from watching videos and seeing new content im missing out on. Generally I dont miss the game that much though. Maybe I would get on and get back into it. Maybe not. But its hard to even want to try.

How do you know if you are truly burnt and done with a game?

By crossing out that final achievement for the 100%. If the game is good and entertaining however, like Kingdom Come Deliverance or Skyrim, then there is no such category as DONE, lol
when i get burned out. it is strange to think about, but sometimes you turn off a game or log out and never turn it back on again. there was a time when i logged out of diablo 2, maplestory, runescape, ff11, league, ff14, and never logged back in again.

I think MMOs are addictive. Even when you're not having fun, you'll still play them for FOMO things or something else. I avoid them now. It's not about being "Done" with an MMO. It's about realizing what you're missing spending so much time on them.

If real life things aren't important to you then it could be something like a bunch of other games with unique gameplay and fun you're missing out on playing MMOs.

As far as single player games or non-MMO type games... There are some that just don't end. Rimworld comes to mind. The key here though is that Rimworld doesn't have FOMO. So you can just stop playing when you get bored. Pick it back up when the mood strikes you.

I would avoid MMOs, personally. There's just so much out there to be experienced and MMOs are a waste.
I agree but i think if you only play like an hour or two a day or just put responsibilities first they can be enjoyable.

I just dont think there are any good new mmorpgs that warrant daily play. Most games playing 2 hours daily is plenty of time to stay ahead of updates and progress fast. But if you think bout going back to osrs or wow you will have 2000 hours of stuff to do. Just pass, because as you say lifes too important to take on such a task.

I will wait till a better new mmo comes out then after reading this I realize osrs isnt worth my time anymore. A new mmo I can keep up with and enjoy as fresh without spending a ton of time into it.

When I don't feel like playing it anymore -- games are meant to be a distraction, not a obligation.

I really agree with this, never could get into MMOs cause they were never fun for me, closest thing i got was destiny 1 but for me it was a shooter first and a mmo 2nd

And to op id say its simple, if you are not having fun then thats it, if its something you do in your spare time for entertainament and you are not having fun or you are bored. Then you are done.

Play another game or do something else entirely :TOIlogo:
When a better/more interesting game comes along.

You actually need checkbox-conditions?

For normal games, I play through them. If I'm lucky, I'm getting to the end, at which point it's obviously finished and it gets a thumb up or down. If things are bad enough, I'll just stop midway with a thumb down.

Things are different for F2P games (which I rarely play these days). I take the "free" part seriously, so I'm not expecting to reach the end. If things go well, I'll play until the P2W gets too prevalent. If things don't go well, I'll stop before that. Basically, it's similar to normal games except that P2W is the more likely ending, and is not counted as a negative.

You have 134 games and only 3 with over 10 hours xD. Not to be hating but I dont even understand why you play games.

I dont know how old you are but at 31 I find it very hard to gauge my interest in games at times. I know when im really into a game but sometimes I cant tell if i like a game or im just looking to kill time doing my hobby.

Usually at first glance. Well, I'm a persistent guy and don't give up easily, but I usually notice it very quickly and then put the brakes on DLCs if it doesn't fit and wait and see.
When it becomes a chore instead of fun.

I buy when on deep discount sales, preparing for eventual retirement. A lot in library I’ve also had hard copies of back in the day and played them then.
