Should marijuana users be prohibited from owning a gun?
Historically, laws existed to keep people who were intoxicated from carrying firearms because they were potentially dangerous, which is how some people justify the prohibition.

The thing is, the ban is for people who use them at all. They're not prohibited from handling them when they're under the influence, but can't own one at all if they're a user, even if it's legal in their state.

That's because marijuana hasn't been rescheduled, and this is considered an illegal drug with no medical benefit, even though its benefits have been long documented.

Because of that, the prohibition stands, though many argue it shouldn't.

Now, the Supreme Court is https://www.marijuanamoment.net/supreme-court-will-discuss-ban-on-marijuana-users-gun-ownership-in-september/

Haven`t heard anybody going to murderous rampage with a gun because they smoked some weed.

they show up for me when i am sober too. they are always hungry
im so glad I live in a country in which gun ownership is uncommon.

no one should own a weapon unless it's the only avenue to survive.

ROFLMAO
I am against legal guns.
happy to live in a gunbanned nation.

but well we do have mariana and we treat it like alcohol.
if you are under influence you may own that car but not drive it.

only those who have been catched DUI multiple times.. may loose their driving licence temporately and/or may get an alcohol-lock installed when they get it returned.

so likewise one should be allowed to own a gun even if a pot user.. but not allowed to handle one.. just as you would not be if currently drunk.
no shooting under influence.

only those who are clear aditcs.. same as most people drink but few have an alcohol problem..
might be on a list of not being allowed to own one.. (unless you can invent some gunlock that like a blowtest for alchol will not work whenm currently high)

gun ownership is common in my country, but we still do not have mass shootings. uniquely american issue

Of course.
Marijuana is proven to make people into violent criminals. I knew a guy, he was always a good kid growing up, but one marijuana just destroyed him and he eventually wound up in jail for assault.

if thats switzerland.. I can say 3 words
1 regulation... (in switzewrland I need to show documentation.. much more strict backgroundchecks, and the weapon is properly registered.. and I am responsible.. like if it gets lost.. I must report it to the police and can held responsible for any crime or injurity flowing from careless storing it.
thus as a criminal it still is very hard to get a weapon in switzerland..

2 caliber.. yes you may own a handgun, but not the kind of semiatomatic madness you can own in the usa

3 society.. usa has more people per capita in jail, costing the taxpayer a higher % on the crimninal system, while also having much higher crimerates.. their criminal system is expensive af and failing.. which also fuels the violence.

NEVER wise to let the people that keep and abuse substance have firearms. Same can be said for alcohol. NEVER wise to let an impaired or HABITUALLY impaired person operate or be around ANY machinery. INCLUDING firearms. They should have to decide which is more important, the substance or the privilege? Keep it clean.

what a bunch of bogus.
while I personally hate drugs.. and do not like my nation having legal pot..
the stuff basicly only intensivies and freezes the emotion you currently have.. it does not alter emotion.
and most userss just turn into useless slackers.. they call them mellow for a reason.. they may be longhared lazy workshunnning bumbs.. they are not difficult people to live with and some of the least violent people you see..
--- those who can turn mental are the ones who mix it's use with alcohol use or other drugs..

The US crime rate is a race issue, take that out of the equation and the USA is one of the safest nations in the world.

That's the worst logic ever. Nobody should have a gun unless they need it to survive? So, once you're pushed into a position where you need one for survival, where are you going to get it from? Are you going to be well enough practiced with it to actually be able to use it to survive? No, you won't.
