When will we accept MOST movies ALWAYS sucked?
People were that BORED and lacked other forms of entertainment. Ever since we've had so much modern mainstream internet and video games will we EVER ADMIT movies WERE good because people were THAT BORED?

We said goodbye to worthwhile movies with the 90's. The turn of the century made it official. The average ratings keep going down. Movies that once were 8 and 9 are now about 5 to 6. It seems very few modern and new movies have high ratings.

The movie industry is as dead as traditional theater.

That's where I'm going with this. The expectations SOARED during the 90's. They've always kind of sucked, always were boring BUT they were entertaining, they were something. People don't like movies anymore yet the movies never were that great. They were SOMETHING, they were entertainment.

80's movies for example. SO many of those were hits yet they were generic. BUT they were very well done, great casts and characters, scenes. People didn't have all of this internet these shows and modern video games.

The majority won't ever TRULY appreciate movies like others did during the past.

They didn't

As a kid I'd watch plenty of them. Many 80s, 90s movies were good, as well as some older ones. Even some 00s movies were pretty good.

And I had video games, I had 00s internet. Still went out to see a lot of movies. The first time i noticed movies sucked was once CGI started being put everywhere in horror. And once horror became 99% sound effects. Where as I prefer old horror that can be funny, make you laugh or think.

Nostalgia does wipe out the dregs, but still past eras had better stuff at the top.

You see the same cultural destruction in all other areas as well, so you can't claim there is a replacement. You have to go way back before things like video games didn't exist at all.

I'd like to agree but that's nostalgia clouding your judgment. That's a time when you were impressionable. 80's thru 90's internet and video game were kind of primitive and mostly sucked compared to now. Later 90's was when the video games began to turn into something worthwhile.

i stayed up all night last week watching a classic godzilla movie marathon. Then another day up all night watching every episode of reboot season 4.

They were still good

Back in the day movies had to have plot and character because there was no real technology.
Your mind filled in the blanks and we liked it.
i think you're just depressed
2025 has been the worst year for movies. Went to the cinemas over 20 times this year, all the movies sucked, excepted for "Sinners." I saw another 60 movies online, and most of them I turned off within 15 minutes. Boring and convoluted story.

I loved that show(Reboot!), but only knew of its existence in recent years.
The final episode wasn't aired back in the day but you can find it if you want.

About the only thing modern movies and shows have over older, is music. And there were still lots of old movies with great music.
