So, I've Been Watching Survival Reality Shows
No, not 'Survivor'.

I'm talking about 'Naked & Afraid'. As well as 'Alone'.

It's shocking how many people make it less than one week. They aren't real survivalists. Nothing but pedestrians and tourists.

I once survived an ENTIRE WINTER at below freezing temperatures. My pipes froze and burst. I had no running water. I couldn't take a shower or flush the toilet.

But these people spend 4 days in the wilderness and say, "This is too hard." Then cry.

How do these people manage to get through multiple rounds of casting? Skill doesn't indicate intelligence, willpower, or resolve.
------------------------------------------------
I'd like to see the best 'Alone' people go head-to-head with the best 'Naked & Afraid' people.

Alone: Three layers of clothing, a backpack, and ten survival items.

Naked & Afraid: One survival item, a pot, a fire-starter, a map, and a bag.

My favorite episode was the tough muscular dude who survived with no issues. He was able to hunt, fish, and build anything.

The screaming and crying toilet he was with was utterly useless, the episode was better just with him.

Not sure which episode you are referring to.
Us boys used to disappear for days at a time into the wilderness growing up. We took fishing poles and knives and made do.

Berries and nuts alone can be a pretty filling snack.

Wow that must have been really difficult for you to live in your house during winter you are so brave
Why do you stalk and harass me? I've done nothing to you. Leave me along fake gamer girl.

I dare you to go 3 months of winter without heat. In below freezing temperatures. You won't make it a week. You think it's easy? Prove it.
As a modern human, I find the natural world too unnatural. Why would you go somewhere there's no road? How would you even ship things? Drones? African Swallows? Sounds expensive.

Human nature is an interesting thing. I spent a few years working on a remote resort in Death Valley. The nearest small town was over hundred miles away. Water had to be piped in from 7 miles away. No cell service. Electricity came from a diesel generator that periodically broke down. The community was around 30 people.

It wasn't naked and afraid or Survivor but one got to see human nature. Most people couldn't handle the remoteness of the situation. They couldn't handle not seeing something built by mankind. The turn over rate was extremely high, we usually get a betting pool for new employees to see if they would leave within the first month, if they didn't leave they'd get the betting pool.

What was interesting is they'd makeup excuses as to why they had to leave to justify it to everyone else. They'd typically invent a family member in distress and blame leaving on them. or simply outright leave and not tell anyone.

With total actual remoteness and needing to survive on their own without the ability to get help from others would be too much for most people.

There's a Bear Gryllis Youtube video on surviving on an island where they took a large group split up the sexes and put them on different sides of the island. The guys formed a good community, and were having the time of their lives. The women didn't even figure out that they could boil water in their jerry cans and I'm pretty sure had to be given a piglet for food from the producer...problem is they named the piglet and couldn't bring themselves to eat it.
I think I could do alone by myself on a nice island and I think I'd do pretty good as long as I wouldn't get disqualified for talking to volleyballs with bloody handprints on them.
If you watch enough TV, you can learn to do just about anything.

I'm a Survivor fan. I am. I celebrate the entire collection.

But not a fan of the premise behind Naked and Afraid. Who wants to survive naked? I noticed the show doesn't take place in cold environments.

However, I do like survival, with a kit.

Do you recommend Alone?
I think it'd be kind of fun to do naked afraid especially given the :\One survival item, a pot, a fire-starter, a map, and a bag and the fact that you have a naked person of the opposite sex to keep you company and warm at night. Does your partner also get those items, as in will there be two survival items ?
