Degoogling Smart Phones?
Anyone here with experience of Custom ROMS strictly for privacy?

I heard things about GrapheneOS, LineageOS, CalyxOS.

I can’t decide, also seems like Pixel phones are the only way?

Would be cool, if they have it for One Plus or Samsung.

Lineage OS is available on multiple devices, also Google has been clamping down on custom ROMs lately.
Not that many phones you can degoogle, but ironically pixels are degoogleable
Wasnt ti pewdiepie who did a whole video on it as well, complete with the phone O.S. I REALLY need to get...

Pewds did a whole video on De-Googling, there was only one section that was his phone

GrapheneOS looks pretty awesome. Too bad it only seems to work on Pixels.

From what I heard Google stopped sharing its source code around Android 16.

Seems like GrapheneOS is fine for now, but long term doesn’t seem promising?

From what I've heard it just makes their job harder but they plan to continue developing GrapheneOS.

I don't know that much though since I don't have a Pixel. Wish it worked on my phone (doesn't seem like any alternative OSes do sadly)

for privacy purposes, GrapheneOS
they only do pixel phones

if you have other phone, check if it's supported by LineageOS. LineageOS is at least better than the stock roms, just not privacy focused like GrapheneOS

Fun fact: pewdieguy’s entire financial career is footed on Google and especially it’s subsidiary Youtube. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

True. He was also Youtube's top channel.
It's really funny seeing him, of all people, going down this route. Kind of awesome though.

Interesting, kinda defeats Pewds point of degoogling but yet he still has a YouTube/google account and is active on it???

Kinda made me laugh lol, I have nothing against the dude but seemed kinda hypocritical no?

Edit: However, I’m glad with all of his success/popularity to show that privacy is important in our technological modern era.

No, I don't think so. Honestly using Youtube to get people away from Google/Youtube is actually kind of bad@ss.

You don't have a moat and barbed wire fence around your house, yet you still lock your door and draw your blinds. Likewise you don't need to live off-grid in a cabin to care about privacy.

True well said, that’s a great perspective.

Pixel is best for degoogling with graphene
Some others have other ROMs
Most modern phones have no ROMs
All phones can use ADB to uninstall unwanted apps like google

It’s dupery and clickbait. Long gone are the fun days when he played Amnesia.

Anyway, if anyone wants to degoogle their phone, just install Windows on it. Then you are like Neo from the Matrix who has some serious computer skills.
