turtles can pressurize and push oxygen out of their nose. they use this to pre-oxygenate a body of water when entering or exiting a slipstream, so that following turtles can spend less energy breathing.

they can also use it defensively in a slipstream, releasing oxygen as a group to over-oxygenate the predators behind and knock them unconscious, potentially even cause them to miss a turn or drift out.
