Have you seen the mod that uses ChatGPT for Skyrim NPCs? There's a delay between responses, but they generally seem pretty cognizant.
You can type in a question for anything in-game related, and if the NPC can answer it, they'll try to. There's limits to it. Like they have to stay in character.
Yeah, games like these may lead to the downfall of traditional visual novels. Which I wouldn't miss at all.
