what i never got was these nerds who say they want to be in Starfleet but we did live in that world, they would just be the same weirdos they are today because Starfleet would still have physical requirements for you to be a functional crew member.

well replicators pretty much made it that way because you've essentially erased 'want' and 'need' from the people's lives and all the government needs to do is keep peace which is pretty simple if your population aren't fighting over resources. So socialism only works if you have a mcguffin to make all the problems go away that come with a socialist state.
