His mom should be apologizing to him. She can get arrested and sued for what she did.
Then I looked down at my dog and remembered I had clipped the keys on to her collar so I didn't lose them when I got wasted.
If it isn't your home on the lease there isn't much you can do, most laws favor homeowners, though you do still might have some legal recourse if she didn't formally evict you. Do research and check your local laws, and maybe consult an attorney if you can.
If you don’t officially own the house though, I wouldn’t break in. That’d be a crime.
You have two moms?
judistically this is it :
but ok.. basicly what you say.. is I own property for 50% and my co-owner denies me entry (changes the locks)
I first call that co-owner and record the conversation I ask for a key to my property, so it is clear they deny me that.
my second action would be.. calling a locksmith.. and a police officer...
**the officer cause well if you start breaking open houses people might call..
but also so that this all is on record properly.
I will ofcourse inform my co-owner of this and offer or hand them a key of these new locks, but also send them a bill of these new locks.
I have on record it was their malcontent I needed to replace the locks, so while normally they only were liable to halve that expense, I now clearly have reason for them to be liable for the total (also why I want police officer present and start a case)
if they don't pay up.. or chance the locks again.. than I can build my case further.. and than i can do 1 of 2 things.
-you can start a civil case to have a judge order them to pay (ceize their income until their outstanding debt to me is paid) -> that will only make them pay all the times you had to waste time fixing the locks, pay to have them changes, and any other expenses flowing from her axtions.. like missed work or hotelcosts..
or..
-force a sale of the property (either me buying them out.. or it being sold to a third party and me getting my halve of the proceeds)
I deem it likely that if she changes locks more often.. than once and you have build a case of this going on.. you can get away with paying less than 50% (since you will be due for reperations)
====
that said as co-owner she cannot cast you out.. but can demand rent over her half.
this desire may be presumed present from the moment she first expressed she did not want you living there.
thus you could be due some marketconform rent for 50% of similair properties in similair areaas from that time until such time the property is sold or you buy her out.
=====
the difficulty of all this is.. it is you mother.
I cannot fathom having such horrible dealings with your own mother she would kick you out the house you live in.
I can only imagine that ever happening if you were like a drugsaddict.. or doing criminal things.. and that you bring ther neighbourhood in danger while trashing the house . and thus despite it breaking her heart.. her not having any other choice but kicking you out.. because you refuse to seek help and get clean.
