Let's vote.
What country do you thing best espouses the virtues of leadership in the free world? It should be one that provides necessities for their people, has a reputation of fairness, does not infringe on people's rights and upholds laws that protect their citizens. Foreign policy should respectful and further the cause of freedom and well being of people around the world.
I'm not sure such a country even exists. What do you think?

I've heard that comparison before. I'm surprised they even play poker as shown in a few episodes. I mean, what is the point? But we are talking about sci-fi here in an idealistic world. Communism was also developed by an idealistic philosophy which seemed to have tied the two together.
I don't think there will be any entries here irl. No country fits the role, sadly enough.

so fair that election results are completely ignored!

does not infringe on people's rights

being beaten and gassed for legally protesting is commonplace!

and upholds laws that protect their citizens.

it protects them from thinking too deeply about wanting a life out from under other countries influence!
