Well, at the north pole, Santa and his elves are responsible for changing the miniature optical disks that the cube Earth runs on.

Right now, we're playing pikmin, and we're all getting destroyed, or we're playing super smash bros and getting ko'd in life over and over

I prefer the collective struggles of the common pikmin

Not only physics but look at the terrain you stand on. Why would a cube shaped thing be covered by curvaceous contours? Why would the core be a cube? If the core were a cube the overlapping matter and terrain would make it round.

why would it be a sphere

It's more peach shaped
don't look at the earth's bulge

Because of gravity, mass, fluid dynamics and erosion mainly.

but would it actually be possible

A planet the size and mass of the earth ? Nope. An asteroid ? With enough luck maybe we can have a shape close to that. But that's not likely to happen often.

I just explained why. Why would it be a cube? Same as when you play with clay or leave dirt or matter to naturally form. Gravity won't allow it, it just naturally falls into place. When you place a level nothing is perfectly level, a cube is.

- Gravity make everything fall toward a central point.
- Mass increase the amount of force produced because of gravity by matter.
- Fluid dynamics make molten rocks and grains rearrange themselves in the most energy efficient setting.
- Erosion polish it all, litterally erasing mountains over time.

What's the most energy efficient setting for a big mass of matter, all attracted to a central point, behaving like a fluid and being polished by wind, asteriod impacts, water and other abrasive processes ?

A sphere.

Well, to be a bit more rigorous, earth isn't a perfect sphere as it tend to be a bit flatter on the pole and a bit inflated at the equator (because of centrifugal force provocked by Earth's rotation).
Imagine living on a rubricks cube.
