Seems like Hollywood forgot how to write superheroes
Spoilers for the two films

DC's Superman movie has Superman acting immature and emotional during an interview to his girlfriend, Lois Lane. Overall all characters in the film feel paper thin, character development is absent for anyone, or if it's there, it's like Japan's Bullet train where a character goes from cruel to suddenly remorseful and crying. But at least Superman is a hero in his own movie, so that's something.

Fantastic Four decided to make bold step of introducing the "first family" as entitled anti-heroes, if not downright villains who would rather let the Earth and their population die than consider the possibility of sacrificing their own son to save others. What happened to the needs of many outweigh the needs of few? For full context, an eldritch horror called Galactus comes to Earth's doorstep. His ultimatum is that either Franklin Richards becomes his herald (basically villain's minion, but he also is representative of the planet serving Galactus) or the Earth gets eaten by the eldritch space monster. Fantastic Four immediately disregard the offer, and decide that their newborn son is way too important over the billions of people on Earth. The people were literally crying outside the Baxter Building, waving the signs "We have families, too!" but it fell off on deaf ears. Sue Storm proceeds to vent about losing her own mother which somehow convinces the people to let the entitled caped vigilantes to proceed with their plan even if it can in very high chance cause the Earth's destruction.

So what happened to the writing? At least in the past the heroes in the comic book films were written as heroes. Right now we have superheroes act entitled, selfish, downright risking lives of the people for their own selfish reasons like the Fantastic Four. As bad as Superman movie was, at least he acted like a hero and servant of the people. F4 came off as rich snobs.

Whats to write?

"Hello, I'm hopeless romantic that believes everything and everyone ever is good. Killing is a big no no because mommy said so.

I'll never kill any super villian and let them keep getting out of jail forever, because I'm better than them. No matter how many millions, billions, trillions they kill, its never okay to stop them for good. Teeheee I'm so good, look at me

Also look at me, I wear tight clothes and zoom zoom really fast, I'm so special, I'm above the law teehee. But I follow every law, just about, except the ones I don't like because I'm a snowflake that you just cannot touch, nope, not with a ten foot pole, haha

Police are my frens, even though the law says they should arrest me, but they don't. Because HELLLOOOO i'm Special, special, snow flake man/woman, Go ME

Did I mention again I get on tv wearing just really tight clothing? Sorry, not sorry, time to go save some kids" -super heros

Got me in first half, not gonna lie. But yeah, Marvel movies do feel like propaganda, especially now.
the last marvel movie i watched was ant man or the thor movie where he is a gladiator and i didnt like either of them. been years now since i liked 'superhero' stuff. i could say the same for all films with the exception of nature documentaries
IMO Most Superheroes were never that deep.

Some were pretty good, but it was rare.

Also, I think people have too high of expectations for a Superhero movie. They should be just beautiful shallow spectacles. IMO.

No, they didn't forget - they never bothered.

They did everything *exactly* the way it should be done for the target audience.

Imagine getting paid big $$$ for scribbling on toilet paper . . . really, it's an excellent job.

Has there ever been a deep super hero? Because "I lost someone and that hurt" isn't really deep, looking at you batman, spiderman.

I'm not even sure a super hero can be deep, because being a super hero itself is such a surface level idea.

Its the villians, or anti-heros that usually get to be slightly deeper.
I think I used to prefer Marvel comics over DC because they portrayed heroes with various disabilities and personal struggles. For instance, Professor Xavier possessed immense telepathic powers but was a wheelchair user, while Tony Stark (Iron Man) battled alcoholism. Many characters' abilities came with significant side effects, and numerous heroes suffered from psychological issues and paranoia. Additionally, mutants were often depicted fighting against arrogance and xenophobia.

Regarding the plot, I believe Galactus seeks to possess Franklin Richards because this overpowered little "Mary Sue" is the most powerful mutant ever born - capable of potentially defeating him. By turning Franklin into his servant, Galactus would secure an insurmountable advantage. However, handing over a child to such a cosmic threat is not only unwise but tantamount to dooming Earth in the future.

Beyond his immense psychic abilities, Franklin Richards can manipulate and warp reality on a universal scale, making him an even greater asset - or liability - depending on who controls him.

As if they ever knew how in the first place.
i want more gritty superhero stuff. watchmen, kick ass, logan, that kind of thing. most live action marvel/dc films play it very safe because they want families to be able to go see them, but i prefer darker superhero tales.
