Hulk Hogan was not a hero
He divorced multiple times and cheated on his friend with his friend's wife. He did steroids too.

Yes he was entertaining during the NWO era on WCW.

But I don't know why people think he's an idol.

What are your thoughts?

Hulk Hogan is not Terry Bollea. Terry Bollea just played Hulk Hogan.

it is partially nostalgia, but also hogan and many of the old wrestlers legitimately attempted to be motivational to viewers. they espoused pushing yourself beyond your limits, believing in yourself, working hard to achieve your goals. for many young folk, especially young men, this was inspirational.

hogan turned out to be a racist prick, and like many of the golden age wrestlers was not really the inspirational hero he pretended to be. but that does not change how many perceived him throughout their lives, or the impact he may have made on them.

humans are complex, and sometimes one can admit someone they idolised turned out to be rotten like hogan, but still appreciate the positive influence he may have had on them.

Well no, of course not. But you're forgetting he stood in for that whole 80s era of nationalist propaganda the west was so into. (They're still into it though, who's kidding)

Rocky did it for boxing movie fans. Hogan did it for wrestling movie fans.

That's an excellent point.
He is about as good as any celebrity, at least he didn't encourage kids into bad behavior, besides wrestling, which they would of done anyways.

Hogan was GOAT. People insulting his legacy are 17 year old TikTokers who never watched a wrestling match in their life
It’s always disappointing to discover that one of our heroes hasn’t lived up to our expectations. But we also need to recognize how unrealistic it is to place people on pedestals they were never meant to occupy. Hulk Hogan is a prime example of someone who failed to meet the lofty ideals society projected onto him. His recent downfall reflects that gap between public image and human reality.

Still, we often forget that everyone, no matter how famous, is human. We're all imperfect. We all make mistakes. Hogan certainly made his, but judging someone solely by their worst moments is shortsighted. It’s important to acknowledge both the failures and the successes.

Despite his personal missteps, you can’t deny Hogan’s influence. He played a major role in bringing professional wrestling into the mainstream and inspired countless young fans with his larger-than-life presence and message.

As he often said:

"Train, say your prayers, eat your vitamins, be true to yourself, true to your country, be a real American." - Hulk Hogan

maybe, either way, rest in peace, theres no point holding a grudge on a dead man.
heard some crazy ♥♥♥♥ like other wrestlers were trying to unionize and Hulk ratted on them. And it just so happened that he was making more money than all of them combined.

detla is too young to know hulk hogan when he wrestled against tatanka, yokuzuna 😪
Nostalgia. It’s not about the man. It’s about how people feel when they think back to the memories.

My favorite part about Macho Man is how there is a very consistent up-and-down pattern to how he speaks: he'll start in a low register but it slowly builds until he reaches fever pitch and caps it with "YEAH!!" and drops low again and The Cycle of Madness repeats lol
