Hate is an easy sell, and it's short term gain is better for the bottom line than focusing on a more wholesome message. It doesn't matter if it is politics, gender identity, sports, relationships, privacy, human nature naturally focuses on the negative, thus gets more click and revenue.

TDS is still popular enough to focus on currently so, at least for the next year, it will still divide people, and make media companies more money. However even hate has it's fatigue level, which is why some popular shows that focuses on a certain issue are starting to get canceled.

You will find that certain issues like racism is focused over periods of time, they push hard, then the fatigue sets in, a few years later it is pushed again. This has been going on since at least the 1950's, but it created enough revenue that media has about perfected the technique of keeping population riled up enough to keep the money flowing.
