School in August? What?

August is among my fav months. I vote November, incredibly dark and weather sucks here.

July is equally as ♥♥♥♥ as august. i'll never forgive how (sept)ember, (oct)ober, (nov)ember, (dec)ember are our 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th months all because of two people i can't describe without a eating a ban

Good I can't wait for school teachers and school kids to go back to their institutions so the adults can party at the beaches.

august is the month most people go on holiday..
and if you have your normal 25+ paid day off days per year.. (not counting the extra 15 days most people get in exchange for overtime, and 7 by default paid off national holidays. you totally will take off this month.
(unless your without kids yet.. than you won't for all resorts will charge maximum price.. than you take time off before or after season when your colleges are back.. and go when it is cheaper)

august also has the lowest chance on rain and the best summer weather.. unlike juli which while hot also is rain rain rain..

august is also when schools are closed (school closing somewhere in juli and opening 1st week of september) so there's that too.

As a teacher I am working even without students, but instead of checking grades, and teaching, I am selecting new books for next years (a lot of meetings with board, they have their ideas of digitalisation I from experience prefer classical methods and try to hold that out my classroom, they get bribed by publishers to make students buy their methods, I want methods that I deem the best and that do not cost to much for students to purchase.. basicly thats the debate over and over)
I am also writing new tests for all classes (never allowed to use bought or the same tests.. so that students cannot copy and cheat)
-and I brush a bit up myself.. physics and theologics has new publications, and these months are good to get some extra education paid by the emplorer
Than there is the boards nonsensical changes to the roster, and the software we use. to record our classes, log the grades and all that.. for some reason they love to overhaul that every year, meaning we need to practice in summer with a complete new system so we know how to use it when the students return..

**this summer most of us get trained in software use too.. got to learn to scan for AI use.. I may be one of the more IT able teachers (as I have been building and installing pc's since the 80s).. but being able to detect if a paper is AI written (especially if students use AI as basis than alter a few lines which they are not allowed to).. is something we need to learn to detect.

but still even the days I am working are comparable relax.. I can take breaks when I want to.. can leave early... and if I not feel like coming in tomorrow.. I don't.

ofcourse there is a counter..I understand too.. if your working in a job that needs to operate 100% than half your colegues on leave.. means you need to work double the workload.. sucks to be you and in such a bad nation and profession.

still even those jobs tend to at least allow you SOME weeks of in summer basicly rotating the holidays so not everybody all leaves at ones.. and try to plan accordingly cause summers always run on skeleton crews.


the most dreadfull of summer are poor and lonely people.
-if you aint got money to go on holiday
-than summer is the time all clubs, and social activites you normally go to stop.
-and eventhe few friends all are on holiday..
meaning summer is the loneliest tome of the year for you...

I can only say.. next year.. plan ahead.
"ask your boss for double shifts next summer.. work is better than mising alone.."
or if you do get time off... since your still a student...
consider a grouptrip (better than going it alone and who knows might make new friendships)
and if money is the issue... welll even without money there are many resorts where they offer summerjobs.. you work for them at no pay.. and get to stay for free.. ok it may suck to have to cater to the guests as poolboy, or child entertainer or whatnot.. but you usually get acces to all the guests facilities in your off time (including all the buffets) + get to add yourself for free on all the excursions too.. so thats a win..

August is one of the best months of the year.
