UK Knew it would get pushback on its online censorship
But ultimately, no one will actually do anything. (The only real threat to them atm is Apple)

You'll vote different? So what, the people in the chairs may change, but the donators that tell people in the chairs what to do, always stay the same. Because the people in chairs, have no morals besides "more money for me".

Same as the USA, we vote for the anti-war guy and just get more wars.

In the end they'll either ban isp sites, or like china allow select vpns that censor content anyway.

I’m rooting for Apple
(Get it? Because Apples are also plants? No?)
Remember in the usa theres

S.1748 Kids Online Safety act.
S.737 Screen act
S.278 Kids off social media

and more trying to bring to the usa, what the uk now enjoys. And they will keep trying until they get their censorship.

Remember trump wanted 10 years of unregulated AI, that state laws can't affect. They want data centers that are all connected and tied together.

I thought you already ID to look at porn in america.
only some states and only some sites
ok, where do I sign up?
One of my big questions is, what happens to the Tor browser if such bills pass in the usa. Given tor often works for and accept money from the gov.

Now I don't use it myself, but a lot of people focused on security or user privacy do.
Well, firstly, it's not censorship.

And, secondly, there is no pushback.
The fact that they don't provide personal chekups is telling. It's all about data harvesting. I'd be OK with an age check, if they come to my house personally to inspect me. I'd never upload critical personal info to the internet, especially not for any government sc***m.

And if Valve ever considers extending this worldwide, unless they send someone personally, I'm gonna apply for a whole library refund and start a lawsuit for forcing me into piracy.

There is pushback, that's why people are petitioning against it.

400k signitures last I heard. And at 300k the uk gov just said "we don't care, we aren't repealing the censorship law".

And they said people who aren't for the law are on the side of predators. Which I saw many people criticizing the uk gov saying "you protect the predators"

Which law are you talking about and which petition?

I think I know what you mean, and that's nothing to do with Age Verification.

What you are talking about is the inclusion of online accountability in to the law. You are accountable for what you say. That's not censorship, it's about being accountable. So if you threaten to kill someone, or organise a violent riot, then you can be held accountable.

Yeah it keeps growing. At a certain point it will grow large enough that the government can't ignore it, but they are trying to make sure people don't find out about it. Most media aren't reporting it. One of the opposition leaders has said he will repeal it and he seems the most likely to win next election.

No, they will keep ignoring it. Just like the usa kept ignoring all anti-genocide protests, or arresting protesters.

And he will either change his mind on repealing it once he's in power. Or lack the power to do so.

Well, yeah they probably will. Unless it reaches a point they can't ignore it and that's what needs to happen.
