Trump halts de minimis exemption early
The exemption was supposed to end in 2027. Now it's ending at the end of August of 2025.

What are your thoughts?

Ebay sellers from Canada will have a hard time selling to USA.

There will now be a tariff on all goods even if the order value is under $800.

I'd say there should be an exception for Canada, however you just know they'd abuse it and let China ship stuff to the US through Canada.

Not a bad thing ultimately. It's bad for places that peddle cheap Chinese trash like Temu or Shein, but those companies are objectively bad so who cares.

Sounds like a Canada problem.

You have an interesting perspective.

This rule now applies to all countries trying to sell goods in USA.

There are so many Trump voters going out of business in my town. FAFO indeed.

I'm not at all happy about it.
Considering that de minimis shipments accounted for 98% of the total narcotics seized and 97% of the counterfeit items per DHS data (https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/07/31/president-trump-ends-unfair-de-minimis-tariff-exemption-major-victory-securing), the only question I have is: why did it take so long to end this?

Open the bridges. Build the... be the ball danny.
It was bound to happen when our only reason for voting was based on how much we hate trump rather then the best candidate

All my stocks are American at least. And I’m doing quite well. Keeping any amount of money in Canadian funds is a bad idea

I'm currently up 56.8% YTD thanks to the dip in April/May.
