Why do people pre-order?
Can someone explain this? What is the logical reason behind taking a gamble on a game as apposed to just waiting even just a few days? I can kinda get it if you're REALLY excited for a game but just casual pre-ordering seems like nonesense to me.

I have no idea, never pre-ordered a single game in my life.
Because they lack intelligence.

Because during the age of physical media, you had to preorder or you wouldn't get a copy of a popular game.

Preordering digital copies, that absolutely makes zero sense.

For the pre order bonuses of course, and occasionally advanced access.
I did preorder BEFORE HIGH SPEED DOWNLOADING became the standard. When it was shipped and would be here on day of release via express I did preorder. But ever since high speed downloading I haven't preordered.

Is getting a slightly rare cosmetic that usually becomes obtainable later down the line anyway and maybe some extra in-game currency really worth it? And as for "advanced access", the same logic presented in the post still applies, you're gambling on if the game will be so good that you need to play it ASAP.

Oh no! I didn't think about all that! :lunar2019shockedpig:

I still pre order due to those reasons. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Why does it really matter? Either way they're going to pay for it.
The only game I've ever pre-ordered was COD Black Ops Cold War.

The primary reason is the pre-order rewards.
How else am I supposed to get my digital content before everybody else?

Well if you would read the arguments I already made, I wouldn't have to make them again.
It used to be pre-orders would yield lots of physical swag/collector items. But in the age of predominately digital downloads, the material possessions are far and few in between. I never cared for the “Order Now and Get Game Access 3 Days Early” but I sure did like the Master Chief helmet and Skyrim dragon type stuff.
Because I have the disposable income to survive the occasional financial blunder.
