GOG Gives Away 13 Controversial Games To Protest Censorship
GOG Statement

Censorship
is quietly deciding
which games you can buy.

We are fighting back.

Some games vanish. Not because they broke the law but because someone decided they shouldn’t exist.

For 48 hours, these games are free, because if a game is legal, you should be free to buy it.

Thanks to the dedication of developers and publishers, we are launching
FreedomToBuy

To raise awareness on censorship in gaming, 13 games are now available for free for 48h as a part of stand for creative freedom and preservation. We believe that if a game is legal and responsibly made, players should be able to enjoy it today – and decades from now.

It’s our statement: when games are delisted today because of discomfort, reviving them tomorrow becomes exponentially harder.

-

Thanks GOG!

Lets hope Valve and other stores try push back against Censorship too.

None of those games was banned. This is literally a PR stunt from GoG, just like when Steam changed the wording of ToS.

Just off the top of my head I know the very first game on the list "Postal 2" was banned. Maybe do some fact checking first eh.

I remember many games being banned, censored or had content removed just to get on a store fronts over the past 2 decades.

You mean this one?

GoG just chose random erotic/controversial games and put them in the bundle. They are not part of current censorship campaign.

Agony Unrated was removed from steam and had adult content removed on consoles. This was 3 years ago. Also everyone knows of the Postal 2 ban.

Adult games have never been sold on consoles. That is the policy of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.

Alright, so are they available in those countries via GoG? Genuine question. Won't change my mind in the matter, but I will admit, that I was wrong to some extent.

What I can admit to right now, that my wording could be better. I should have said "all those games are available right now on Steam".

Mastercard released a statement saying they haven't demanded anything is banned and haven't curated any games. The censorship is being done by the platforms who are removing anything illegal but also removing stuff that isn't illegal along with it.
Reminder that GOG bent the knee to Chinese outrage by canceling the listing of Devotion.

Adult games have never been sold on consoles. That is the policy of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.

Sony has a Adult section in the online store and does sell a selection of adult content games. Nintendo is currently being flooded with hentai games. I can't speak for Microsoft as I don't own a Xbox.

According to Reddit thread - bundle is not available, unless someone uses VPN... So PR stunt.
