i don't think i've ever been to any kind of ball, be it sad, joyful, or otherwise. not really my cup of tea, if i'm honest.

Sadness and depression are for people who have way too much time on their hands. I might be stressed and neurotic but I rarely have time to even think of a depressing thought. I might die young but I won't die depressed. I don't have that luxury.
